Challenge
As Shell exited the rig business in Sabah, Hibiscus needed to take over the operating environment quickly and establish an EAM baseline from the asset and inventory information handed over during the transition.
Principal Consultant Contribution
Worked with the Hibiscus finance team to obtain and verify asset and inventory records, including purchase orders and invoices, so a credible baseline could be established for Maximo and aligned with the financial system.
Negotiated an economical initial Maximo licensing arrangement with IBM so the immediate priority could remain getting trusted data loaded and the EAM environment operational.
Directed the team to use MaxLoader to accelerate structured migration from Excel into Maximo and support readiness for the wider operational transition.
Approach
- Established a verified asset and inventory baseline from available handover records.
- Reconciled supporting PO and invoice information with Finance.
- Prioritised data readiness and system availability before non-critical enhancements.
- Used MaxLoader to reduce manual migration effort.
- Controlled initial licensing cost while establishing the operating platform.
Outcome
Supported a fast-track Maximo implementation completed in approximately four months with minimal interruption to drilling and logistics operations during the transition.
Business Value
- Accelerated EAM readiness during a critical change of operator.
- Improved confidence in inherited asset and inventory data.
- Reduced migration effort and controlled initial software cost.
